Basmati Rice

True Basmati rice is grown exclusively in the Indo-Gangetic plains of northern India. Alstoe sources directly from certified mills across Punjab and Haryana — offering the full spectrum of Basmati varieties from premium aged 1121 to value-grade Sharbati, in raw, steam, and parboiled (sella) forms.

Basmati Rice varieties exported by Alstoe India Exports
Premium Segment
Aromatic long-grain rice, aged to perfection

Basmati is defined by three qualities: extra-long slender grains, distinctive natural aroma, and non-sticky fluffy texture after cooking. Authentic Basmati has geographical indication (GI) protection and can only be labelled as such if grown in certified regions of India. We age our Basmati 12 to 24 months before export — improving aroma, reducing moisture, and delivering the premium grain separation that discerning buyers demand.

Non-Basmati Rice

India produces the world's broadest range of non-Basmati rice — from long-grain IR64 preferred in West Africa, to medium-grain Sona Masuri loved by the South Asian diaspora, to short-grain Ponni popular in Sri Lanka. Alstoe sources primarily from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana mills — India's non-Basmati powerhouse region.

Cost-effective, culturally preferred, globally consumed

Non-Basmati rice covers everything from cost-effective parboiled rice for African markets to premium Sona Masuri for South Indian retail. Where Basmati is an aspirational product, non-Basmati is the everyday staple — driving the largest export volumes globally. Our mill partners offer 5% to 25% broken grades, raw and parboiled processing, and sortexed cleanliness standards suitable for retail packs or institutional bulk supply.
